As someone who's tested multiple smart home devices, I was pleasantly surprised by the Amysen Smart Plugs. Setting up all four plugs took me under 15 minutes - a refreshing change from other brands that often require tech support hotlines!
The voice control through Alexa works flawlessly in my experience. I love being able to say 'Alexa, turn on the coffee maker' while still in bed. The plugs have reliably handled everything from lamps to my window AC unit (though do check your appliance's amperage first).
The scheduling feature has been a game-changer for security when traveling. I've programmed lights to turn on/off randomly, making our home appear occupied. The group control is equally useful - one tap turns off all my entertainment center devices at night.
However, there are some quirks. Like other reviewers, I initially struggled with setup because the instructions point to the wrong app (use 'Smart Life', not Amysen's own app). The 2.4GHz-only limitation also means they won't work with modern 5GHz networks unless your router supports both bands.
The biggest concern is security - these plugs lack encryption, which makes me hesitant to use them for critical appliances. They're perfect for lamps and small devices, but I wouldn't trust them with anything sensitive.
When internet goes down, the physical button is a lifesaver. Unlike some competitors, these plugs reconnect automatically when service returns - no manual reset needed.
At this price point ($10 per plug), they offer incredible value despite minor drawbacks. Just be prepared for some initial setup frustration and stick to non-critical uses.
