Let me start by saying this lyre harp is absolutely stunning. The mahogany body gives it a rich, warm look, and the reindeer totem adds a unique touch. When I first unboxed it, I was impressed by how solid it felt—definitely not some cheap toy instrument.
Now, the sound... when properly tuned (more on that later), it produces these delicate, ethereal tones that transport you to ancient Greece. Playing simple melodies feels magical, especially outdoors during golden hour. The 21 strings offer a decent range for expressive playing.
BUT—and this is a big but—the tuning process nearly drove me mad! Like other reviewers mentioned, the strings go flat almost immediately at first. I learned the hard way that you can't rush this process. Over three days of gradual tuning sessions (starting with lower strings first), mine finally stabilized. Pro tip: Keep your tuning wrench handy at all times during the break-in period.
The included accessories are surprisingly good quality. The EVA case provides decent protection, though I wish it had more padding. The extra strings saved me when I snapped one during initial tuning (totally my fault for being impatient).
Comfort-wise, those metal strings do hurt untrained fingers at first. After two weeks of regular play, I've built up calluses and can play for hours without discomfort. The spacing feels comfortable for average-sized hands.
My biggest concern is long-term durability—I'm already noticing slight warping near the antler design after just a month of use. While this doesn't affect sound yet, it makes me wonder about its lifespan under constant string tension.
Would I recommend it? Yes... but only to patient beginners or experienced players who understand what they're getting into. This isn't a professional-grade instrument, but for the price, it's a beautiful introduction to lyre playing—if you're willing to put in the maintenance work.
