Let me start by saying this little white box has completely transformed how I interact with my home appliances. The Leviton Decora Smart Plug (2nd Gen) is one of those rare smart devices that just works - no hub required, no complicated setup, just pure convenience.
The installation was laughably easy - I literally plugged it into a standard outlet and was controlling my lamp via the My Leviton app within 90 seconds. What impressed me most was how reliably it maintains connection to my 2.4GHz WiFi network (pro tip: make sure you're on 2.4GHz for setup).
Voice control is where this plug shines. 'Alexa, turn on the reading light' works flawlessly every time, and the Matter compatibility means it plays nice with all major smart home ecosystems. I've used it with Google Assistant and Siri too - all perfect.
The scheduling features are incredibly useful. I have my coffee maker programmed to turn on 10 minutes before my alarm goes off, and outdoor lights that follow sunset/sunrise times automatically. The app makes creating these automations surprisingly intuitive.
Now for some real talk - there are two minor drawbacks. First, at 15A/1500W max capacity, you can't control heavy appliances like space heaters (which is actually a good safety feature). Second, while the physical design is sleek, it does block the adjacent outlet when plugged in.
After three months of daily use controlling everything from lamps to holiday decorations, this smart plug has earned permanent spots throughout my home. It's reliable enough that I've stopped worrying about whether my commands will work - they just do.
