As someone who's tried multiple language learning resources, I have mixed feelings about this Estonian course. The book itself is well-structured with clear grammar explanations and practical vocabulary - I particularly appreciated the cultural notes sprinkled throughout.
However, the biggest letdown is the outdated audio situation. In 2023, expecting learners to use CDs feels archaic. I found myself constantly frustrated when trying to practice pronunciation without immediate audio reference. The separate purchase requirement for audio feels like an unnecessary hurdle.
The exercises are decent but can feel repetitive after a while. Compared to more dynamic German or English courses I've used, this one lacks engaging activities that make learning fun. That said, for serious learners willing to supplement with online resources, it provides a good grammatical foundation.
If the publisher would modernize this course with integrated digital audio and more interactive elements, it could be fantastic. As is, it's a serviceable but not exceptional resource for tackling Estonian.
