Let me start by saying this: the 2024 iMac with the M4 chip is a beast wrapped in Apple's signature sleek design. From unboxing to daily use, it's been a joy.
The first thing that struck me was how lightning-fast it boots up – we're talking under 10 seconds from cold start to ready-to-work. That M4 chip with its 10-core CPU and GPU combo handles everything I throw at it without breaking a sweat.
The display? Gorgeous. The colors pop, the text is razor-sharp, and that slim bezel design makes the 24-inch screen feel more immersive than you'd expect. Though I do miss the larger 27-inch option from older models.
Setting up was mostly painless, though transferring old data did cause some hiccups (fair warning if you're migrating from an ancient system). The lack of USB-A ports is annoying – you'll definitely need adapters for older peripherals.
Where this machine really shines is in everyday use. It's so responsive that even simple tasks like browsing feel luxurious. And for those worried about AI capabilities – this thing is future-proofed beautifully.
The only real downsides? The base storage feels tight at 256GB (I upgraded), and the missing front Apple logo does take away some of that classic iMac charm. But these are minor quibbles for what's otherwise an exceptional machine.
After a month of use, I can confidently say this is one of Apple's best desktops yet – fast, beautiful, and built to last through the coming AI revolution.
