After installing the Furrion Vision S on my 32-foot travel trailer, I can confidently say this is one of the best RV investments I've made. The 5-inch anti-glare monitor gives me crystal-clear rear views whether I'm backing into tight campsites or monitoring traffic on highways.
The infrared night vision truly impresses - during our recent late-night arrival at a dark campground, I could clearly see obstacles behind us. Though be warned: the IR lights do attract bugs that show up as little white specks in heavy insect areas!
Installation was a breeze since our trailer was pre-wired. Literally took me 15 minutes from unboxing to operation. The sharkfin design looks sleek and doesn't disrupt my trailer's aerodynamics like bulkier cameras might.
One quirk: you need to have your running lights on for continuous operation while driving. This wasn't immediately obvious from the manual and had me troubleshooting until I discovered this requirement.
The slight fisheye effect does distort distance perception when backing up, so I still use it in combination with my mirrors rather than relying solely on the camera. But for lane changes and general rear visibility? Absolute game changer.
At highway speeds, there's about a half-second delay - noticeable but manageable once you get used to it. The waterproof rating held up perfectly during a recent downpour, with no signal loss or image degradation.
If you're debating screen sizes, spring for the 5-inch version. The extra real estate makes a significant difference in usability, especially when glancing quickly while driving.
While pricey, the peace of mind and safety benefits make this system worth every penny for serious RVers who tow frequently.
