Let me start by saying this automatic fish feeder is a lifesaver for busy fish owners. The 0.175L capacity is perfect for my 20-gallon tank, and I love that it can dispense food 1-4 times daily. The ABS plastic construction feels decent, though noticeably thinner than premium models.
The setup was surprisingly easy - I used the included 3M sticker to mount it above my tank's feeding hole since the clamp didn't fit my tank's design. The adjustable slider for portion control is genius, though I had to get creative with tape to reduce the opening for my two small fish.
Where this feeder shines is reliability. Like other reviewers, I've found the battery life impressive (using standard AA batteries). It handles flake food beautifully, and the timer function works consistently once programmed correctly.
However, there are drawbacks. The military time display confused me at first (why not standard 12-hour format?). Some units apparently ship without displays entirely - a major quality control issue. While mine works fine, the gears do make noticeable noise during operation.
Compared to premium brands like Eheim, this is clearly a budget alternative. The plastic feels cheaper, and long-term durability is questionable (though some users report 7-8 years of service). For occasional use or as a backup feeder, it's fantastic value. But serious aquarists might want to invest in a higher-end model.
Bottom line: It gets the job done well enough at an attractive price point, just don't expect luxury build quality.
