Let me start by saying, the Motorola Edge (2021) is a phone that punches above its weight class. After using it as my daily driver for months, I can confidently say it's one of the best value propositions in the smartphone market right now.
The 108MP camera is impressive in daylight - photos are crisp with excellent detail. However, low-light performance could be better. I found myself needing to tap to focus frequently when shooting at night. The ultra-wide and zoom lenses are serviceable but don't expect flagship-level quality here.
Where this phone truly shines is its battery life. That massive 5000mAh battery consistently lasts me through a day and half of moderate use. Even when binge-watching Netflix, it only drained about 10-12% per hour. The TurboPower 30 charging is lightning fast - I get from 0 to 50% in about 20 minutes.
The 144Hz display is buttery smooth for scrolling and gaming. While it's 'only' FHD+ resolution, I never found myself missing QHD from more expensive phones. The curved edges add a premium feel though they do make finding good cases challenging.
Performance-wise, the Snapdragon 778G handles everything I throw at it without breaking a sweat. Multitasking between apps is seamless thanks to the generous 8GB RAM.
A few drawbacks: Motorola's update policy is disappointing (stuck on Android 11), there's no wireless charging, and as mentioned earlier, case options are limited due to the curved display.
For anyone on T-Mobile like me, the 5G performance has been stellar - I regularly see download speeds over 500Mbps in urban areas. Even in rural locations where I live, signal strength remains decent.
The included case (a nice touch) does interfere slightly with charging cable insertion - you'll need to press firmly to make proper contact.
At its current discounted price point (often under $300), this phone offers incredible value that makes its few shortcomings easy to overlook for most users who don't need absolute top-tier camera performance.
