Let me start by saying these SLOW DOLPHIN clamps have become my go-to solution for mounting multiple devices during shoots. The aluminum alloy construction feels premium, and I've used them to hold everything from field monitors to LED panels without worrying about durability.
The double ball head design is where this product shines. That 360-degree swivel articulation makes positioning my equipment incredibly intuitive. I recently used them to mount a secondary camera angle during a live cooking show, and the flexibility saved me at least 30 minutes of setup time compared to traditional mounts.
However, there's one significant pain point - that single locking knob system. While it's convenient for quick adjustments, I've found it frustrating when trying to make micro-adjustments. The textured balls help with grip (a nice touch compared to smooth alternatives), but you'll need patience to get things perfectly positioned.
The clamping range (0.55" to 2.16") handles most standard equipment beautifully. I've successfully mounted them on everything from thin monitor arms to thick tripod legs. That said, the rubber padding does concern me long-term - it doesn't inspire the same confidence as harder plastic alternatives when securing heavier gear.
For the price point, getting two complete units is fantastic value. They're perfect for secondary equipment that doesn't require rock-solid stability, like microphones or small LED lights. But if you're working with expensive primary cameras or heavy monitors, you might want to consider more premium options despite the higher cost.
