As a parent of a child with autism, I've tried countless visual aids to help with daily routines. This Visual Schedule For Home is hands-down one of the best tools we've incorporated into our lives.
The moment I unboxed it, I was impressed by the quality. The cards are made of sturdy, waterproof plastic that can withstand my son's enthusiastic handling (and occasional chewing attempts). The rounded corners are a thoughtful touch that prevents accidental paper cuts during those excited moments when he's rearranging his schedule.
What really sets this apart is how it's transformed our mornings and bedtimes. My son used to resist transitions fiercely, but now he proudly removes each completed task from the board. The clear images paired with words have helped him anticipate what's coming next - no more meltdowns when it's time to switch from playtime to brushing teeth!
The Velcro system works beautifully, though I do agree with other reviewers that having the hook side on the cards would make them last even longer. We've had to purchase extra boards (which the seller promptly helped us with) to create separate morning and evening routines since there aren't duplicate cards for repeated activities like snacks.
While it's marketed for special needs, I've recommended this to neurotypical families too - it's fantastic for any child who benefits from visual structure. After three months of daily use, our set still looks brand new despite being handled by both my 4-year-old and curious toddler.
The only improvements I'd suggest are including more duplicate cards for common repeated activities and maybe offering a 3-board option for families who want to display morning, afternoon and evening routines simultaneously. But even as-is, this visual schedule has brought more peace to our home than I ever imagined possible.
