I recently got my hands on the UtySty 2 Pack Brewing Siphon Pump, and after testing it in various scenarios, here's my honest take.
First Impressions: The siphon pump comes in a pack of two, which is great for backups. The food-grade PP material feels safe for transferring liquids like wine, beer, or even fish tank water. The stainless steel filter is a nice touch—easy to clean and rust-resistant.
The Good: This thing is lightweight and flexible, making it easy to maneuver. I used it for transferring homemade wine, and it did the job without disturbing the sediment at the bottom. The suction works well once you get it going, and the 1.9m length is more than enough for most tasks. For the price, it’s a decent option if you need a simple siphon for occasional use.
The Not-So-Good: The tubing is stiff—like, really stiff. It holds its coiled shape straight out of the package, which makes it awkward to use initially. I had to leave it in the sun to relax (yes, really). Also, the flow rate is painfully slow. If you're transferring large volumes, be prepared for a workout squeezing that bulb repeatedly.
Dealbreaker Alert: There’s no valve or clamp to stop the flow mid-transfer. You either have to lift the tube above the liquid level or yank it out entirely—messy and inconvenient.
Final Verdict: It’s a budget-friendly tool that works okay for light-duty tasks like fish tank cleaning or small-scale brewing. But if you need something durable or fast-flowing, invest in a higher-quality siphon. For now, I’ll keep one as a backup and maybe gift the other to someone who won’t judge its quirks too harshly.
