After six years of using a Panasonic cordless system with my Ooma Telo, I decided to give the Ooma HD3 handset a try. The setup was effortless—just a button press on the Telo and a quick pairing on the phone. No more frustrating call drops like before!
The sound quality is where this phone truly shines. My family immediately noticed the difference—calls are crystal clear, thanks to HD voice support. The speakerphone is decent, though it does sound a bit tinny since the speaker is on the back.
One of my favorite features? Checking voicemail directly from the handset. No more logging into my Ooma account or fiddling with the Telo base. Plus, syncing contacts online is a game-changer—updates made on my Ooma account appear instantly on the phone.
The range is solid indoors (about 35 feet), but don’t expect miracles if you’re wandering far from the base. A DECT 6.0 repeater might help, though I haven’t tested one yet.
A few downsides: The price feels steep for a single handset (~$50), and I wish it had a headphone jack or an easier way to add contacts to favorites. Also, toss the included batteries—swap in Panasonic Eneloops for better performance.
For new Ooma users, I’d recommend bundling the Telo with three HD3 handsets ($149.99)—it’s a great value for whole-home coverage. Longtime users like me will appreciate how seamlessly this handset integrates into the Ooma ecosystem.
