Okay, so I finally got my hands on the Dorman 800-301 Fuel Line Repair Tool, and here's the tea ☕.
First off, this thing is a BEAST for DIY fuel line repairs. I’m no mechanic, but even I could figure it out (after some YouTube deep-diving, lol). The universal fit is legit—worked on my truck’s nylon lines like a charm. No heat gun needed, though some folks swear by it. Just crank it in with a bit of muscle, and boom—done.
But… whyyyy does it come with ZERO instructions? Like, not even a scribbled sticky note? For $100, I expected at least a pamphlet. Thankfully, the internet saved me (shoutout to random YouTubers). Also, heads up—it maxes out at 3/8", so if you’re working with bigger lines (like my 5/8" vent line), you’re outta luck. Major side-eye for that.
Pros: Saves $$$ vs. a shop, sturdy enough for most jobs, and the included fittings are clutch. Cons: Feels kinda cheap for the price, missing 45° connectors (sold separately?!), and the packaging is… sad. Like, where’s the warranty info?
Verdict? Solid tool if you’re patient and resourceful. But if you want polish + paperwork, maybe splurge on that fancy ‘tool truck’ brand. Still giving it 4 stars because it got the job done—just wish Dorman loved us back as much as we love their products 😂.
