Let me start by saying this smart thermostat plug promised a lot – remote control, voice commands, precise temperature settings – but my experience has been a rollercoaster.
The setup was a nightmare. The manual might as well have been in hieroglyphics with its typos and confusing instructions. I spent an hour just trying to get the WiFi hotspot to appear, and when it finally did, the app felt like it was designed in the early 2000s.
Once operational, I used it with my space heater in the bedroom. The temperature control works... most of the time. It successfully turns off the heater when reaching the set temp, but sometimes does this rapid on-off dance that sounds like a machine gun. Not exactly soothing for bedtime.
The dangling thermostat sensor is awkward – I ended up taping it to the device itself. And don't get me started on the temperature accuracy; it's consistently 2-4 degrees off from my other thermometers.
When it works (which is about 90% of the time after factory resets and calibration tweaks), it's genuinely useful for preventing frozen pipes in my garage. But that remaining 10% when it glitches makes me nervous about leaving it unattended.
For $50, I expected better quality control and reliable performance. It gets the job done if you're willing to put up with its quirks, but I wouldn't trust it with expensive equipment or in critical situations.
