Let's talk about the Bosch BC1363 QuietCast brake pads. I installed these on my 2015 Chevy Silverado, and here's the real deal.
The good stuff first: These pads are QUIET. Like, 'did I actually install brakes?' quiet. No squeaks, no weird noises - just smooth stopping power. The ceramic material really does produce less dust than semi-metallic pads I've used before.
Installation was straightforward - all the necessary hardware was included, and they fit perfectly in my calipers. The molded shim technology seems to work as advertised for noise reduction.
Now for the not-so-good: Packaging is terrible. My box arrived looking like it went through a wrestling match. One pad had minor damage (still usable thankfully). Bosch really needs to address this - it's a common complaint.
Performance-wise, they stop well under normal conditions. However, when pushed hard (think mountain descents with a trailer), they can fade quicker than I'd like. Not terrible, but noticeable if you're used to more aggressive pads.
The powder-coated backing plates are a nice touch against rust, especially for those of us in snowy areas where road salt eats everything.
Would I buy again? For daily driving use - absolutely. For heavy towing or performance use - might look at something more heavy-duty. At this price point though, they're hard to beat for most drivers.
