After using the YXJSTO feeding trough for my small herd of sheep and one very enthusiastic donkey, I can confidently say this is a solid piece of farm equipment. The galvanized steel construction feels like it could survive a tornado - we've had heavy rains and blazing sun, yet it still looks brand new with no signs of rust.
Assembly was surprisingly straightforward, though I'll admit my husband and I had a good laugh trying to hold the pieces together while screwing them in place. Pro tip: recruit a second pair of hands! What took us about 15 minutes would've been frustrating solo.
The V-shaped bottom is genius - my animals can't tip it over during their morning feeding frenzy. Though fair warning: if you've got more than six animals trying to eat simultaneously, there might be some polite (or not so polite) jostling for position. My ram once tried his best to claim the whole trough, but even his stubbornness couldn't budge this sturdy feeder.
Cleaning is a breeze - just hose it down and maybe give it a quick scrub. Much easier than the wooden trough I used before that always absorbed smells. My only wish? That it came with some sort of removable cover for rainy days to keep the feed dry.
Watching my animals use this trough daily, I appreciate little details like the smooth edges (no scratched noses!) and how the black coating makes it blend into our barn aesthetic better than shiny metal would. It's become such a reliable part of our routine that I'm considering getting a second one just for mineral supplements.
