Okay, so I finally tried cutting glass bottles with this diamond disc and my angle grinder. Here's the honest truth - it's messy but kinda awesome once you get the hang of it!
The disc itself is super thin (1.0mm) which gives really precise cuts. I used it on some wine bottles to make vases and was surprised how well it worked after some practice. The cooling holes definitely help - I sprayed water while cutting and didn't have overheating issues.
PRO TIP: Wear ALL the safety gear! Glass dust goes everywhere - I felt it hitting my neck even with protection. Also put down a thick mat to catch falling fragments (trust me, you'll thank me later).
The first few tries were rough with lots of chipping, but eventually I got cleaner cuts by holding the grinder steady and letting the wheel guide itself. The side of the disc works great for smoothing edges too - just tap lightly instead of grinding continuously.
After cutting 3 bottles (including a thick tequila one!), the disc still looks almost new. It chews through glass like butter but expect some rough edges that need polishing afterwards.
Would I recommend? Yes, but only if you're patient and safety-conscious. This isn't for perfect craft-level cuts, but for quick bottle transformations? Absolutely!
