I've been using the Google Nest Learning Thermostat for about three months now, and overall, it's been a game-changer for my home. The sleek stainless steel design looks modern on my wall, and the bright display is easy to read from across the room. I especially love how it shows the weather when I walk by – it's those little touches that make it feel premium.
The learning feature works surprisingly well. After about a week of adjusting temperatures manually, it picked up my schedule perfectly. Now I wake up to a warm house in winter without ever touching the dial. The energy savings are noticeable too – my last bill was about 15% lower than usual.
Remote control via phone is incredibly convenient. When I'm heading home from work on a cold day, I can turn up the heat so it's cozy when I arrive. The Home/Away Assist works reliably too – no more wasting energy heating an empty house.
However, setup wasn't completely smooth. Like one reviewer mentioned, I initially struggled with WiFi connection too. It took some troubleshooting (and finally resetting my router) to get it working properly. Once connected though, it's been rock solid.
The HVAC monitoring gives me peace of mind knowing it'll alert me if there's an issue with my system. And being able to check energy usage history helps me understand where I can save more.
While the ecobee might be easier to install initially, I think the Nest's design and learning capabilities make it worth the extra effort if you're comfortable with some basic tech troubleshooting.
