Just finished reading Woodward's 'War' and wow - this book hits differently than his previous works. The way he weaves together three major geopolitical crises while keeping Trump's shadow looming throughout is masterful.
The Ukraine sections had me on edge - especially when detailing how US intelligence knew about Russia's invasion plans while Zelensky remained skeptical. The behind-the-scenes diplomacy reads like a thriller!
What surprised me most was Woodward's portrayal of Biden's foreign policy team. Their strategic thinking and crisis management during the Hamas attacks shows a level of competence we rarely see in political exposes.
The book isn't perfect though - I kept waiting for more on immigration policy which barely gets mentioned. And at 400+ pages, it does drag in some sections (I may have skimmed a few NATO meeting transcripts).
Final verdict? If you want to understand how Washington really works during global crises, this is essential reading. Just maybe don't start it right before bed - I lost sleep over some of these revelations!
