Okay, let's talk about this Epson ET-8500 printer that's been both my savior and occasional nemesis for the past few months.
The Good Stuff First: The photo quality? *Chef's kiss*. I printed some iPhone shots on their glossy paper and people thought I'd gotten them professionally done. The colors pop like a Wes Anderson film, and the blacks are deeper than my existential crises.
Ink Situation: Those giant ink bottles feel like you're fueling a spaceship. After printing about 200 photos (mostly 4x6s), the levels barely budged. Though fair warning - if you print a ton of dark images like I do (moody landscapes ftw), the black ink disappears faster than my motivation on Mondays.
Paper Handling: Having separate trays for different sizes is GENIUS. No more playing printer Jenga every time I switch from documents to photos. Though that back tray? Took me three tries and a YouTube tutorial to figure out how to load thick cardstock properly.
The Not-So-Great: Setup was... an adventure. The WiFi connection had me questioning my life choices until I realized their '1' looked like an 'l'. Pro tip: have wine ready for this part.
Final Verdict: At $700, it's definitely an investment. But if you print regularly (especially photos), the ink savings alone make it worth it over time. Just maybe don't attempt setup after a long workday.
