Let me start by saying I had high hopes for this poncho. The description promised durability and lightweight protection, but my experience was far from ideal.
The first thing that hit me was the STRONG chemical smell when I opened the package. It was overwhelming - like a mix of new shower curtain and industrial plastic factory. I had to air it out for two days before daring to wear it!
The material is disappointingly thin - you can practically see through it. While it's technically waterproof, I wouldn't trust it in heavy rain or windy conditions. The welded seams seem sturdy at first glance, but several reviewers reported tears upon first use.
The sizing is another major issue. Despite being labeled 'Large', the hood is comically small. I have an average-sized head (I think!), and struggled to fit it over my baseball cap. Forget about wearing glasses or goggles underneath - there's simply no room.
On the positive side, it's extremely lightweight and packs down small - perfect for emergency kits where space is limited. The blue color is vibrant (though some might prefer more visibility in rainy conditions).
Would I recommend it? Only as a last-resort emergency option where nothing else is available. For regular use or serious weather protection, invest in a better quality rain jacket or poncho.
