Let me start by saying – if you're still using mechanical disc brakes, you're missing out. I installed the BUCKLOS hydraulic set on my front wheel (kept the old cable brake on the rear for now), and the difference is ridiculous. The first steep downhill I tackled after installation felt like driving a sports car after riding a bicycle with squeaky shopping cart wheels.
The stopping power is insane – no more nervous feathering when approaching rocky sections. What surprised me most was how QUIET these are. My old brakes sounded like an angry goose, but these just whisper 'stop' with perfect modulation. The resin-metal pads bite hard without that horrible metallic screech.
Installation was straightforward (though I did swap to a 180mm rotor using an adapter from another bike). The pre-bled lines saved me hours of frustration. Pro tip: check your rotor size compatibility first – these come set up for 160mm by default.
They look slightly bulky when stationary (the branding faces inward toward the wheel), but once you're moving, who cares? On trails, they perform way above their price point. Not quite XTR-level refinement, but for casual riders or budget builds, they're phenomenal.
After three months of abuse through dust, mud, and one unfortunate encounter with beach sand, they still perform like day one. If your bike currently has cable brakes, do yourself a favor – upgrade to these hydraulics before your next big ride.
