Just finished 'The Baby' by AJ McDine and wow, what a ride! This book had me glued to my Kindle way past bedtime.
The story starts with such a simple premise but quickly spirals into this web of secrets and lies. I thought I had it figured out at least three different times... and was wrong every single time!
What really stood out to me was how the author makes you question every character's motives. Even when I thought someone was trustworthy, there'd be this tiny detail that made me second-guess everything.
The pacing is perfect - not so fast that you get whiplash, but never boring either. There's always some new revelation or twist waiting around the corner.
My only tiny complaint? The middle section dragged juuust a bit when they were setting up all the pieces. But then BAM - the last third had me reading like my life depended on it!
If you're into psychological thrillers where nothing is as it seems, this is absolutely worth your time. Already checking out McDine's other books!
