Let me start by saying these plugs are ridiculously easy to set up. I literally plugged one in, scanned the QR code with my iPhone, and boom - it appeared in my Apple Home app faster than I could say 'Siri, turn on the lamp.' The compact design is genius too - no more fighting for outlet space like some kind of electrical Tetris game.
I've been using them to control my reading nook lamp and coffee maker, and the voice control through HomeKit works flawlessly. Waking up to freshly brewed coffee because the plug automatically turned on my machine? That's living in 3023 right there.
However - and this is a big however - I saw that one reviewer had a scary experience with Christmas lights overheating. While mine have been fine with regular lamps and appliances, I wouldn't trust these with anything drawing close to the 1800W max rating. The plastic does feel a bit flimsy when you're plugging in heavier appliances.
The local network control is a game-changer though. When my internet went out last week, I could still control everything through HomeKit as promised. No more dumb plugs during outages!
At this price point, they're great for basic smart home starters, but maybe keep them away from high-draw decorative lighting unless you want an unplanned light show...
