Just got these Retevis RT49P walkie talkies for our kayaking trip, and here's the real tea ☕.
First off, the waterproof claim is LEGIT. Dropped one in the lake (oops), and it survived like a champ. The floating feature? Not so much—RIP to the one that now lives in the Gulf of Mexico 🌊.
Sound quality is surprisingly clear, even with wind and water noise. We could hear each other around bends, though hills murdered the signal. Also, charging is slower than a sloth on vacation—bring a solar panel if you're off-grid!
Love the NOAA weather alerts (saved us from a surprise storm), but channel switching feels like solving a Rubik's cube blindfolded. And PSA: They’re *not* great for moving vehicles—static city when driving 🚗💨.
Verdict? Solid for camping/kayaking if you ignore the 'floating' lie. Just... maybe tie a floaty to them?
