Let me start by saying this light setup is *gorgeous* on a desk. The natural bamboo base gives my 3-gallon Walstad tank a minimalist zen vibe that regular aquarium stands just can't match. The full spectrum lighting makes my anubias and java fern pop with colors I've never seen under basic LEDs.
But here's the tea ☕ - assembly had me frustrated. The screw attaching the gooseneck to the base is comically short. Even after wrench-tightening, the light arm wobbles like it had three cups of coffee whenever I adjust position. Not ideal when you're trying to perfectly illuminate delicate moss carpets!
The 7W brightness is perfect for low-tech planted tanks though - my betta's floating plants went from sad to salad in two weeks! Just be warned: the bamboo darkened where my terracotta pot sat (even when dry), and some users report cracking over time.
Pro tip: Set it up once and never move it. The wobble becomes a non-issue if untouched, and at this price point, you're paying for aesthetics more than industrial durability. Would I buy again? For nano tanks under 5 gallons - absolutely. For anything heavier? Nope, that bamboo bows under pressure like a bad limbo contestant.
