If you're a fan of second-chance romances, 'The Last Second Chance' is a must-read. Jax and Joey's story is filled with raw emotion, hilarious moments, and a love that feels so real it tugs at your heartstrings. From the very first page, I was hooked by their chemistry and the small-town charm of Blue Moon Bend.
One of the standout scenes for me was the trip to the pound for puppy rescue. It had me laughing out loud—seriously one of the funniest scenes I've ever read! The way Lucy Score writes humor is effortless, making even mundane situations feel vibrant and engaging.
The characters in this series are what truly make it shine. They're so well-drawn and full of life that they leap off the page. Whether it's Clementine's hijinks or Roar (adorably calling her step-dad 'Bucket'), every character adds depth and warmth to the story. The sense of community in Blue Moon is palpable, making you wish you could pack your bags and move there.
That said, I did find some of the sex scenes a bit repetitive. While they're undeniably steamy, they follow a predictable pattern that can feel stale after a while. A little more creativity here would have elevated the book even further.
Despite this minor gripe, 'The Last Second Chance' is a delightful read. The emotional depth, coupled with laugh-out-loud moments, makes it a standout in the series. If you're looking for a romance that will make you both swoon and giggle, this is it.
