Okay, so I've read like a dozen 'how to write' books and most left me more confused than when I started. But this one? Different story (pun intended).
First off, Brad Pauquette doesn't talk down to you like some writing guru. His tone is like that friend who actually knows what they're doing but won't judge your messy first drafts.
The 'plantsing' approach was a revelation! Not quite plotting, not quite flying by the seat of your pants - finally someone gets that most of us live in that weird middle ground.
Those QR codes linking to extra materials? Genius. I found myself scanning them mid-chapter when something really clicked. The worksheets are legit useful too - not just filler pages.
What surprised me most was catching myself applying concepts to my WIP before I'd even finished the book. That never happens with writing guides!
If you're tired of either overly rigid systems or vague 'just feel it' advice, this strikes the perfect balance. My only complaint? Wish I'd found it before wasting years on my first novel!
