Okay, so I finally got my hands on this book after hearing mixed reviews. Here's my take:
First off, it's NOT a magic wand that'll turn you into an auto electrician overnight. But man, does it break down complicated stuff in a way that actually makes sense! I've always struggled with wiring diagrams, but this book? Chef's kiss.
The projects section is GOLD - especially for installing gauges and electric fans. It tells you exactly which wire gauges to use based on current demands (no more guessing games!).
As a mechanic who used to hate electrical work, I gotta say Tony Candela's writing style is refreshing. No textbook boredom here - just clear, practical advice that doesn't make you feel stupid.
BUT... if you're looking for 'Wiring for Dummies' with super basic step-by-steps, this might not be your jam. It does get into the why behind things (which I actually appreciate now).
Pro tip: Get Volume 1 first if you're totally new to this. And yeah, some jobs are still worth hiring a pro for - no shame in that!
