Okay, so this rubber mat arrived smelling like a chemical plant explosion. Like, 'should I be wearing a hazmat suit?' levels of stink. But after airing it out for weeks (yes, WEEKS) on my deck through rain and Colorado sun, the smell finally faded enough to risk putting it in my car.
The thickness is decent - not flimsy at all. Those raised ridges actually work great for keeping my dog's water bowl from sliding around. Had to trim it to fit my Venza, but that was easy with some heavy-duty scissors.
Biggest win? When my kid spilled an entire smoothie back there last week, I just hosed it off in the driveway. No stains, no fuss. That alone makes it worth the initial olfactory assault.
Would I buy again? Maybe - but only if I could air it out somewhere far from my house first. Three stars for functionality minus two for nearly gassing myself during unboxing.
