Okay, so I finally got around to installing these sound deadening mats in my car after procrastinating for weeks (who knew car DIY could be such a commitment?). Here's the real tea:
The good stuff first - these mats are surprisingly effective! I used them in my trunk and doors, and there's definitely less road noise now. The aluminum finish looks kinda cool too if you're into that industrial vibe.
Installation was... an adventure. Pro tip: clear your whole weekend for this project. Removing car panels is like defusing a bomb - one wrong move and you're dealing with broken clips or mysterious rattles later. The smaller sheets were easier to handle though, and the adhesive sticks like crazy (in a good way).
About the heat resistance - my car hasn't melted yet after some summer driving, so that's a win. Though I wouldn't use these exposed under the hood unless you want your engine bay looking like a duct tape special.
Wish they were a bit heavier/thicker? Maybe? But for the price, can't really complain. Just be ready for some serious elbow grease if you're doing full interior soundproofing.
Final verdict: Works as advertised if you've got the patience to install it properly. My music sounds better now without all that road noise competing with my terrible singing!
