Okay, so I finally caved and got the ecobee EB-STATE6P-01 after my partner kept nagging about 'energy efficiency.' Gotta admit, the installation was stupid easy - even I couldn't mess it up (and that's saying something).
The app control is legit magical. When my roommate cranks the heat to sauna levels while I'm at work? *Poof* fixed with two taps on my phone. The separate room sensors are genius too - no more fighting over which part of the house gets priority.
BUT... why does something this expensive make simple tasks so complicated? Want to just run the fan? Prepare for an annoying scavenger hunt through menus every. single. time. For $300, I shouldn't need a PhD in thermostatology.
Energy reports are cool though - seeing how much we're saving almost makes up for the price tag. Almost.
