I've been using the Amped AWPW208 outdoor smart plug for a few weeks now to control my patio lights and fountain. The setup was surprisingly simple - just plug it in, connect via WiFi, and voila! Being able to turn everything on with a quick voice command to Alexa feels futuristic ("Alexa, patio party mode!").
However, I was disappointed to discover that despite the product description claiming individual outlet control, both sockets operate together. This became annoying when I wanted to run my decorative lights separately from the fountain. The company's misleading advertising is frustrating.
The build quality seems decent - it survived a sudden rainstorm thanks to the IPX2 rating. But I'm concerned about longevity after reading reviews mentioning units dying after a few months. The lack of available Superconn app (mentioned in manual) is another red flag.
For basic outdoor automation where you don't need separate controls, this plug works fine. But if you need true independent socket control like I eventually did, you'll need to look elsewhere despite what the packaging claims.
