Okay, so I've been using the HP ENVY Inspire 7958e for about a month now, and here's the tea ☕.
First off, the setup was surprisingly smooth. The 6 months of free Instant Ink is a nice touch (though HP agents will try to upsell you - just say no!). The wireless connection worked immediately, which never happens with my other gadgets.
The photo printing? Absolutely stunning. Like, 'why-would-I-ever-go-to-Walgreens-again' good. The colors pop exactly like they do on my phone screen. The separate photo tray is genius for when I'm printing Instagram pics for my scrapbook.
BUT (and it's a big but)... this printer has serious mood swings. One day it's printing like a dream, the next it's refusing to recognize the WiFi. I had to disable 5GHz because apparently airplanes flying overhead mess with it? What year is this?
The Instant Ink program feels like a toxic relationship. They sent me cartridges but then locked them until I paid? That's some dystopian nonsense right there.
When it works, it's amazing - fast duplex printing, crisp documents, that sweet auto document feeder. But when it decides to act up... let's just say I've considered taking it out back Office Space-style.
Final verdict? Great printer trapped in an overcomplicated ecosystem. If you're tech-savvy and patient, go for it. If you just want something simple... maybe look elsewhere.
