I recently got my hands on the SummitLink Custom Body for my Rustler 4X4, and I’ve got to say—it’s a game-changer. The muddy blue over black design looks even better in person, with a deep, vibrant finish that stands out on the track. It’s not just about looks, though; this body feels sturdier than my original Traxxas shell, which is a huge plus for someone who’s rough on their RC like me.
Installation was a breeze since the body comes pre-drilled and painted. I just had to transfer my existing mounting cage (which is easy if you’ve done it before). One thing to note: if you’re not planning to use the clipless system, there’s a noticeable cutout on the rear roof. It doesn’t affect performance, but it’s something to keep in mind if aesthetics are a priority.
The fit is spot-on for my Rustler 4X4, but I was pleasantly surprised to see it also sits well on my friend’s Stampede. The included decals are a nice touch—just remember to peel off the protective shipping film before applying them (learned that the hard way!).
For the price, this body is unbeatable. It’s a fraction of Traxxas’s OEM cost, and it holds up just as well to bashing sessions. If you’re tired of shelling out big bucks for replacements, this is the way to go. Five stars from me—functional, stylish, and wallet-friendly.
