Okay, so I wasn't expecting much from this movie. Like, at all. The last few Shrek spin-offs were... meh. But holy whiskers, this one blew me away!
The animation? Gorgeous. It's like they took regular DreamWorks style and gave it an espresso shot. Those fight scenes with the wolf villain? Pure anime vibes but somehow still felt perfectly Puss-in-Boots-y.
Speaking of the wolf - best animated villain I've seen in years. Not your typical 'muahaha' bad guy. More like... existential horror wrapped in a fairy tale? You'll see what I mean.
Perrito stole my heart though. This little therapy dog (literally) is the perfect comic relief without being annoying. His backstory had me laughing and crying at the same time - how is that even possible?
The 4K transfer is chef's kiss quality too. Colors pop, details are crisp, and that HDR makes the magic scenes look properly magical. Digital copy was easy to redeem which is rare these days.
Only complaint? Now I want a whole trilogy of these quality Puss movies. DreamWorks finally remembered how to make spin-offs that don't suck!
