Okay, so I just finished 'The Guardians' and wow – John Grisham does it again! This book had me glued to my couch all weekend. The way he blends legal drama with human stories is just *chef's kiss*.
What I loved most? The whole innocence project angle. It’s wild (and kinda terrifying) to see how the justice system can fail people. The characters felt so real – like I could bump into them at a coffee shop.
Not gonna lie, the protagonist wasn’t my favorite at first, but by chapter 10 I was fully invested. That last scene? Absolute perfection. Classic Grisham twist that leaves you staring at the wall for five minutes after finishing.
If you liked 'The Firm' or 'Pelican Brief', this one’s different but equally gripping. More emotional depth maybe? Though fair warning – it starts a bit slow (guess that’s realistic when fighting wrongful convictions!).
Bonus: Learned way more about exoneration cases than I expected from a thriller. Now I want to donate to innocence projects!
