Okay, so I've been using these Retevis RT68 walkie talkies for my small business (a cafe with a chaotic back kitchen), and here's the tea ☕.
THE GOOD: For the price, these are surprisingly sturdy! Dropped one in a sink full of dishwater (oops) and it survived after drying out. Sound is clear enough to hear over blender noises, which is saying something. The USB charging is clutch—no hunting for weird proprietary cables.
THE ANNOYING: The channel knob turns if a butterfly sneezes nearby. We constantly have staff yelling 'YOU'RE ON CHANNEL 7 AGAIN, JANET!' Also, the included earpieces? Trash. Half didn't work out the box—just buy better ones separately.
RANGE TEST: Worked fine across our 3-story building (through drywall at least). Tried them at a local park—got about 0.8 miles before cutting out, which matches what other reviewers said.
FINAL VERDICT: Would I trust these for a SWAT team? No. For coordinating brunch rush between host stand and kitchen? Absolutely. Just budget for better earpieces and maybe superglue those knobs 😂
