Let me start by saying I was really excited to upgrade to the Bosch BCC110. The sleek 5-inch touchscreen looked like something out of a sci-fi movie, and the promise of controlling my home's temperature from bed via Alexa had me sold.
The installation was surprisingly smooth - as someone who's moderately handy, I had it up and running in about 30 minutes. The color display is gorgeous, way better than my old Honeywell's dull screen. Programming schedules feels intuitive with the swipe gestures, though I did accidentally change settings a few times when cleaning near it.
Where this thermostat shines is integration. The EasyAir app (after some initial connection hiccups) now lets me adjust temperatures while I'm at work or in bed. Coming home to a perfectly cooled house during last week's heatwave was magical. Alexa compatibility works flawlessly too - 'Alexa, set temperature to 72' never gets old.
But here's the rub - like several reviewers mentioned, the WiFi can be finicky. Mine dropped connection twice in the first month requiring full resets. The temperature readings also seem slightly off compared to my standalone thermometer (shows 2°F warmer than actual). And that firmware update horror story? It made me nervous enough to disable auto-updates.
For energy savings alone, it's worth considering - my electric bill dropped about 15% last month. But if you're not tech-savvy or want rock-solid reliability, you might want to look at Honeywell alternatives. This feels like a 'smart' product that's still working out some kinks.
