Alright, so I snagged these FROGG TOGGS wading boots last spring, and man, they’ve been through some stuff. Here’s the lowdown:
Fit & Comfort: First off, they run BIG. Like, 'bring extra socks' big. I usually wear a 9, but had to size down to a 7 (wtf?). Once I stuffed in some insoles and thick socks, though? Cozy as heck. The mesh upper breathes well, and the ankle padding saved me from blisters during those 12-hour river marathons.
Traction Drama: Went with felt soles for slick rocks—worked like a charm until I hit algae-covered boulders. Then it was like ice skating. Buddy swore by adding hex-head screws (cheap hack!), but I’m too lazy for DIY. Cleated version might be next.
Durability: Survived 5 months of abuse—mud, gravel, me tripping over my own feet. Laces gave up first (RIP), but the PVC toe cap? Still kicking. For the price, I’d call that a win.
Final Verdict: Not fancy, but gets the job done. Lightweight = happy back on long hikes. Just size down and maybe pack glue for those laces.
