First impression? These ceramic plugs look sleek with their pure white finish – like little porcelain thrones for coral frags. The smooth surface had me worried about glue adhesion at first, but after a few extra seconds of pressure, my zoanthids stuck like they meant it.
In my low-flow nano tank, these worked fine. But when I transferred some to my high-flow display tank? Chaos. The short stems turned into urchin soccer balls – I found one wedged behind a powerhead like a tiny coral jailbreak.
The thin base is a double-edged sword. Great for wedging into live rock crevices (no more bulky plug holders!), but terrible for standard frag racks. I lost three acropora frags before switching back to traditional plugs in high-flow areas.
For $15 though? They're decent for controlled environments or temporary holding. Just don't expect them to survive the thunderdome of an established reef tank with heavy flow and mischievous invertebrates.
