Let me start by saying these Skipaelf pompano rigs are a time-saver. The pre-tied setup is perfect when you're rushing to hit the surf at dawn. I've used them on multiple trips, and the bright floats definitely make a difference in murky waters - they're like fish magnets!
The circle hooks are sharp right out of the package. I've landed some decent-sized croakers without any hook failures. The variety of shapes (propeller, bullet, capsule, ball) lets you experiment with what works best in different conditions.
Now for the not-so-good: that advertised 30lb line? It feels suspiciously light. I had one rig snap on me during a strong cast with a 2oz sinker - not ideal when you're losing $5 worth of gear per cast! I ended up re-tying mine with heavier line before trusting them for serious surf fishing.
The offset hooks might be an issue if you're fishing in areas with circle hook regulations. They work great with cut bait though - I've had particularly good results with shrimp pieces staying securely on these hooks even in rough surf.
For the price, they're decent backup rigs to keep in your tackle box. Just don't expect tournament-grade durability if you're going after big redfish or drum in heavy surf conditions.
