Let me start by saying this little mixer is a mixed bag (pun intended). On one hand, it's incredibly affordable and gets the job done for basic pigment mixing. I've used it with my Himi Gouache paints, and it does help revive those dried-out pans surprisingly well.
The plastic body feels cheap but durable enough - I've dropped mine twice and it's still kicking. The stainless steel mixing heads are sturdy, though attaching them is like solving a tiny metal puzzle every time. Pro tip: wiggle while pushing for best results!
Power-wise, this thing packs a punch! The single-speed motor is strong enough to handle thick paints, but be warned - anything watery becomes a splash zone situation. I learned this the hard way while mixing some ink (RIP my white shirt).
Battery installation is needlessly complicated. The compartment design makes me wonder if the engineers were having an off day. Once you wrestle the batteries in though, they last a decent while.
Would I recommend it? If you're on a tight budget and don't mind some quirks, yes. But if you're mixing daily or need precision control, invest in something better.
