Just finished 'The Locked Door' by Freida McFadden, and wow—this book is a rollercoaster! The pacing is lightning-fast, with short chapters that make it impossible to put down. I devoured it in two sittings, constantly guessing (and failing) to predict the next twist.
The dual timeline—flipping between the protagonist's traumatic childhood and her present-day life as a surgeon—adds layers of suspense. Normally, I’m not a fan of time jumps, but here it works brilliantly. You get just enough backstory to keep you hooked without slowing the momentum.
That said, don’t expect deep character studies. Nora, the MC, is compelling but could’ve used more emotional depth. Some twists felt predictable (I called one major reveal early on), but McFadden’s writing is so addictive, it barely mattered. The final pages? Jaw-dropping. No spoilers, but trust me—you won’t see it coming.
Perfect for fans of bingeable thrillers with a solid premise. Not groundbreaking, but wildly entertaining. 4/5 stars!
