Let me tell you, these Sali flap discs are the definition of 'bang for your buck.' I've burned through half the pack grinding down welds on a steel trailer project, and they've held up surprisingly well.
The 40-grit zirconia abrasive bites into metal like a hungry beaver - super aggressive when fresh. After the first few minutes, they mellow out to behave more like a 60-grit, which actually makes them perfect for blending work.
Where these really shine? Contour work! The beveled Type 29 design lets me get into tight angles that flat discs just can't handle. I've used them on everything from rust removal to smoothing out jagged aluminum edges.
Now, the trade-off: They don't last as long as premium $15-per-disc brands. But at this price point? I'm getting three Sali discs for the cost of one 'pro' disc. For heavy fab work where you're going through discs like candy, that math works in your favor.
Pro tip: Keep your grinder at about 10,000 RPM for best results. Push them too hard and they'll wear faster - learned that the hard way on some stainless steel.
The only real downside is the mounting system (requires locking plates instead of screw-on). Takes an extra 10 seconds to change discs, but for the savings? Totally worth it.
