Okay, so I got this tree climbing kit because I needed something sturdy for my arborist side gig. First impressions? The orange rope is actually pretty decent as an auxiliary line, and the leg pads are surprisingly comfy. Like, they really do reduce friction - my thighs thank me.
BUT (and it's a big but)... those spikes man. They're placed WAY too low. I nearly impaled my own foot at 30 feet up! Not exactly the adrenaline rush I was looking for. The harness is solid though - no complaints there.
The quality seems good overall, but the design makes you feel like you're balancing on nails. After about 5 minutes, my back was screaming. Also learned the hard way you can't walk on hard surfaces - ate dirt when I stepped on a root.
Final verdict? Great for short climbs if you're careful, but serious climbers might want to look elsewhere. The price is right though!
