Okay, so I finally caved and got the Google Nest Thermostat after seeing all those fancy ads. Here's the real tea ☕️
First off - installation was NOT as easy as they make it look. I consider myself pretty tech-savvy, but this thing had me questioning my life choices. The video instructions might as well have been in Klingon.
The good? Once it's working (and that's a big IF), it's actually pretty sweet. My house feels like Goldilocks' perfect porridge temperature now - not too hot, not too cold.
But here's the kicker - when my WiFi goes out (thanks Comcast), this $200 smart device turns dumb real quick. Like, 'might as well be a rock' dumb.
Also, why does it keep nagging me about that stupid C wire? I grounded mine to a random electrical box like some sort of thermostat MacGyver and it works... mostly.
Final verdict: 3/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐ Would probably buy again but only if there's a really good sale and I've had several glasses of wine first.
