Let me start by saying this pump DOES deliver on its main promise – boosting water pressure. My shower went from a sad drizzle to a satisfying spray instantly. The automatic switch is convenient, kicking in when I open a tap and shutting off when I'm done.
Installation was... an adventure. Like other reviewers, I struggled with the non-standard threads. Had to make multiple trips to the hardware store for adapters. The included instructions might as well have been in hieroglyphics – definitely not DIY-friendly unless you're handy with plumbing.
Performance-wise, it's a beast when working properly. My water pressure increased by about 12-15 PSI, making a noticeable difference in shower pressure and filling pots faster. The brass impeller seems durable, and the aluminum housing has held up well so far.
Now for the concerning parts: After about 6 months, I noticed the motor getting unusually hot during use. The noise level increased from a hum to what sounds like a small jet engine in my basement. Several reviewers reported electrical safety issues, which made me nervous enough to install a GFCI outlet specifically for this pump.
The biggest pro is definitely the pressure boost – when it works, it transforms weak water flow into strong streams. But between the installation headaches, noise issues, and potential safety concerns mentioned by other users (especially that scary grounding issue), I can't give this an unconditional recommendation.
If you do buy it: 1) Get professional help with installation 2) Monitor it closely for overheating 3) Consider adding extra electrical safety measures. There are probably safer options out there despite this pump's attractive price point.
