First impressions? This thing is basically a smartphone without the phone! The 5-inch IPS touchscreen is crisp (1080p), making it great for watching movies or scrolling through playlists. The metal body feels premium, and the included screen protector is a nice touch.
The GOOD:
- Storage beast: Comes with 32GB internal + 128GB SD card (expandable to 1TB!). Perfect for my massive FLAC music library.
- Surprisingly decent audio quality via Bluetooth 4.1 – paired instantly with my AirPods.
- Parental controls are clutch – my kid uses it for Spotify Kids without touching my phone.
- Lasts about 10-12 hours of mixed use (Spotify + occasional videos).
The NOT-SO-GOOD:
- Gets HOT when charging or transferring files – like ‘warm pancake’ hot.
- No Disney+/Hulu support (dealbreaker if you wanted a mini streaming tablet).
- Speaker quality is just okay – definitely use headphones.
Real talk: I use this daily during commutes. The ability to load audiobooks via Audible while keeping my phone free is game-changing. For $80, it’s way better than those cheap MP3 players, but temper expectations – it’s not replacing your iPad.
