From the first page, this book grabs you with its intense ER scenes and doesn't let go. The fast-paced writing makes it impossible to put down.
What I loved most was how real the medical details felt. As someone without a medical background, I appreciated that the complex terms were explained well enough to follow along.
The main character, Dr. Zack Winston, is brilliantly flawed. His struggle with grief and the ghost of his wife guiding him added such depth to what could have been just another medical thriller.
I read most of this book in one weekend, curled up with coffee while rain tapped against my windows. The conspiracy plot had me constantly second-guessing who to trust - just like Zack himself.
The courtroom scenes were particularly gripping. I could practically hear the judge's gavel and feel the tension between Zack and his fiery attorney Bridget.
While some side characters could have been developed more, the core story was so compelling that I barely noticed. That final twist? I definitely didn't see that coming.
This is one of those rare books that's both a page-turner and makes you think. I've already downloaded the next book in the series.
